Frederick J. Odsen - Member

Mr. Odsen joined Hughes Gorski Seedorf Odsen & Tervooren, LLC in 1978. His practice focuses on lending issues, loan documentation, real property and personal property acquisitions, dispositions and secured lending transactions, business formation and advice, foreclosures, workouts and bankruptcy procedures.

Mr. Odsen has received an AV Preeminent rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Rating System. The AV Preeminent rating is the highest rating given by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Odsen has also been included in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law and Real Estate Law. He was selected as a 2010 Alaska Super Lawyer in the areas of Business/Corporate, Real Estate, Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights law by Washington Law & Politics.

Presentation regarding In re Allard, 1 ABR 47 (Bankr. D. Alaska 1990) – Alaska Bar Association Bankruptcy Section Meeting, January 25, 2011. In Allard, the court permitted an unsecured deficiency claim to be asserted in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case notwithstanding the provisions of Alaska’s anti-deficiency statute, AS 34.20.100, where a secured creditor foreclosed upon real property non-judicially post-petition. The viability of Allard has arisen in an increasing number of recent bankruptcy cases in light of declining property values.
